Four Austrian companies - Crane Power, Geislinger, Kral, Nauticast and their Korean representatives have shared a common booth during Kormarine simultaneously held along with Naval & Defense and Sea-Port under the umbrella of Marine Week 2003. The contractor of the national pavilion at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center Bexco was AMEM - Austrian Marine Equipment Manufacturers.

South Korea is by far the world’s largest shipbuilder. Capabilities and capacities of the Korean shipyards are almost unlimited, pricing is very aggressive and European shipowners take the major portion of the order book for all types of large commercial vessels is it tankers, bulkers, container or gas carriers.

But Korea is also a very active player in the naval shipbuilding arena of the Far East. The Naval & Defence Industries Exhibition 2003 therefore offered a unique chance to evaluate the potential for cutting edge technologies from Austria for the Republic of Korea Navy, which is in a rapid transition from a coastal to a blue water navy in the Northern Pacific area.

Some Austrian exhibitors were invited to the On-Board Reception hosted by the ROK Navy at Pier 8 in Busan Harbor on October 22, 2003.
