The first ever to be held ASME-ICED conference outside the U.S. mainland took place at Hellbrunn Palace in the city of Salzburg, Austria.

The Keynote Address with the lecture title "Improved Large Engines Using Automotive Techniques" was delivered by the chairman and CEO of AVL-List GmbH - Dr. Helmut List - in the Orangerie of the historic Hellbrunn Palace.

Four concurrent technical sessions were covering topics like Lubrication and Friction, Engine Retrofits and Performance Upgrades, Alternative Fuels and Fuel Treatments, Engine Design, Torsional Vibrations, Gas Engines, Combustion Modelling, Emissions, Fuel Injection and Sprays and Catalytic Reduction.

Evening programs and works visits in one of the most beautiful parts of Austria have lightened the hearts of even the driest Engineering personalities.

This year's ASME-ICED Spring Technical Conference was hosted by Austrian Marine Equipment Manufacturers and sponsored by the following Austrian companies:
