World’s largest private sailing yacht EOS in Trieste!
After a couple of extraordinarily relaxing days in Porec on the Istrian peninsula in Northern Croatia, John Kuehmayer and his family did not dare to pass Trieste on their way to Venice without taking at least a cappuccino at the Caffe’ degli Specchi and a short walk through the centre of this beautiful city which was the main port of the Habsburg Empire for more than 500 years. He unexpectedly had the privilege of spotting the world’s largest private sailing yacht – the schooner EOS moored alongside the molo of Stazione Marittima on July 14, 2007 where he took a series of exciting pictures.
The mysterious owner of EOS is not showing his yacht in public areas like the Cote d’Azur or crowded destinations in the Caribbean. He obviously very much appreciates the discrete and noble atmosphere of an elegant city like Trieste at the cutting edge of orient and occident with its exciting imperial background!
This magnificent American Bill Langan designed yacht was launched from the Lürssen shipyard in Bremen in July 2006 and underwent sea trials in the North Sea prior to a deployment to the Caribbean in November 2006. The interior was designed by French star designer Francsois Catroux, who also designed the interior of Lürssen’s Limitless.
The three carbon fibre masts, the rigging package and the deck equipment was supplied by the Dutch company Rondal, making functional aspects beautiful thus enhancing the aesthetic appearance of this dark-green hulled luxury yacht.

Speculations about the owners of the beautiful EOS have come to an end! The veil of secrecy is lifted with some mild disappointment. The owners are - American media mogul Barry Diller and his wife fashion designer Diane zu Fürstenberg.
