The head of the working group is Gustav Henriksen from TBL Federation of Norwegian Engineering Industries, assisted by Hauke Schlegel from VDMA in Germany, Nick Wessels from HME Holland Marine Equipment and John Kuehmayer from AMEM Austrian Marine Equipment Manufacturers. The working group had very good meetings with DNV, MCA, GL and IACS in 2003 and continued its approach to the Classification Societies in 2004 with visits to RINA in Genoa and BV in Paris in April.
The major topics of the discussions, apart from the MED Marine Equipment Directive and MRA Mutual Recognition Agreement between the EU and the US were:
- improving throughput time for plan approval
- mutual acceptation of survey results
- improvement of survey efficiency
- uniform survey practices
- protection of type approvals
